Welcome to this short introduction to Psychology A-Level. This will help to prepare you for when you start your course with us at Gower College Swansea, as well as giving you an opportunity to brush up on some of your skills!

Here’s a quick summary of the things covered in the film:
- The word psychology comes the Latin for ‘the study of the soul’
- Today psychology is about the scientific study of mind and behaviour
- There are a number of different ‘approaches’ in psychology, all with a different perspective on human behaviour
- Psychology uses many different methods to gather data about behaviour

Here’s a quick summary of the things covered in this film:
- John Watson pioneered ‘Behavioural Psychology’
- His research with ‘Little Albert’ reinforced the idea that we learn fear through association
- If we are ‘naturally scared’ of an object e.g., loud noise, we can associate that fear with another object e.g., white rat. They become ‘fused’ together.
