Summary
Role
play is a core part of child development.
Through fun role play children
develop creativity; communication; physical
development; problem solving and confidence. Role play allows children to rehearse real life roles and scenarios or simply take on fictional
characters.
Task
Things
to think about and do:
If you were a student in Rory’s setting, how could you help him to ‘make friends’? Design a role play area which could help Rory to form friendships
Look on the Internet to see different role play areas that can be found in early year’s settings
You can draw the area; make a simple plan or just list what you would include
Think about:
the theme (could this be linked to Rory’s interests?)
play equipment
dressing up clothes
the roles children could play
opportunities for the children to communicate with each other
other skills they could be developing (literacy; numeracy; Welsh; physical; etc)
Be as creative as
you like!
